I have begun work on a comprehensive Wes Montgomery discography that will deal with some errors and omissions in the information currently available regarding the guitarist’s recorded history. This is something of a departure from my general focus which involves artists in need of greater recognition and acclaim. One of the most influential and respected of guitar innovators, Montgomery certainly does not fall into that category. But I have always appreciated his enormous talent and compelling grooves since my purchase of the 1960 LP The Incredible Jazz Guitar of Wes Montgomery.
As always, the discography will be compiled using Steve Albin’s BRIAN software that continues to undergo improvement and expanded capabilities including the handling of solo information.
So stay tuned. This is a major undertaking and I will probably be reaching out for assistance regarding hard to access recordings.
